Summary: The purpose of this research is to examine the treatment of Jews in the legislative documents compiled by king Alfonso X of Castile, in the 13th century. We intend to analyze the discursive characteristics of religious stigmatization and legal tolerance that exist in the documents, in order to reflect on the consequences of the application of these instruments for the Jewish communities and the relationship with the Christians of the kingdom. The documents we will use is the legislative sources Espéculo, Fuero Real and Siete Partidas. We will seek to contextualize the afonsino government in the process of the Iberian Reconquest and to understand to what extent the King's political-Christian project contributed to the creation of legislation that sometimes creates protection mechanisms and sometimes affirms the inferiorization of the Jewish people. In this sense, it is important to define the previous legal bases on which Alfonso X founded his legal apparatus, like Roman, Visigothic and Canon law. We will adopt as a theoretical framework an approach to Social History, using the concepts of representation, identity, stigmatization and tolerance. As a methodology, we will use the Discourse Analysis propositions and the concept of political discourse.
