international co-tutorship

International Co-Tutelle Agreement
International Co-Tutelle (also known as Joint Supervision) is becoming increasingly common in Brazilian universities, as it is internationally. Co-Tutelle provides both students and faculty with greater access to and a broader scope of new knowledge, potentially bringing significant benefits to academic programs.

The Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) may establish agreements with foreign universities for conducting master's or doctoral programs under the Co-Tutelle system. These specific agreements typically arise from interactions between UFES graduate programs and those of other institutions.

Under such agreements, students work under the supervision of an advisor at each of the two partnering institutions. Upon completing the defense of a Master’s Dissertation or Doctoral Thesis in the international Co-Tutelle system, the student will receive two degrees, one from each institution, as agreed upon by the two universities.

The UFES resolution establishing the general guidelines for international Co-Tutelle is provided below:
Resolution No. 36-2010 – CEPE – Co-Tutelle – simultaneous degree conferral in two countries.
