Summary: The dissertation presented here analyzes the formation of the Group of Eleven in the county of Muniz Freire - ES and the consequences of its creation, such as: political and social repression and its connection to communism. The Group of Eleven was created by radio from November 1963, by Leonel Brizola, then federal deputy of the Brazilian Labor Party (PTB), with the aim of organizing the population to fight for basic reforms and against possible attempts of blows of State. The idea was widely accepted and numerous groups emerged throughout the country from the preaching of Brizola, including the small county of Muniz Freire, located in the interior of the State of Holy Spirit. As it did nationally, the Capixaba group was associated with revolutionary activities and communism, which led to persecution after the 1964 coup. Beyond the coup, the political dispute and the local conservative society also contributed to strengthen the anti-communist sentiment in the municipality, creating a repressive climate against the members of the Group of Eleven, since they were constantly associated with the deposed government of João Goulart. In this sense, this work traces the history of the county of Muniz Freire and its link with events occurring in Holy Spirit and nationally. Police inquiries and oral sources, as well as newspapers, minutes and other documents guide their development.
