Summary: This work aims to analyze the narratives elaborated by the editorials of the newspaper The Globe about the 1979 Amnesty Law, over the last 40 years, which reinforce, in our view, the Brazilian conciliatory tradition through the discourse of the “winners”, that is, an official view of the authoritarian period from the perspective of “irreversible historical discourse”, in light of the reflections provoked by Bevernage (2020) on the concepts of irreversibility and irrevocability. The central hypothesis is that the Rio newspaper, through the elaboration of an inflexible language in favor of the inviolability of legislation, from its promulgation to the present, contributed to strengthening historical denialism about the Military Dictatorship in the public space. This, in turn, received an avalanche of misinformation arising from the rise of social networks in the 2010s, which increased the dissemination of news at a speed never seen in any other historical period, including a variety of lies and fake news about certain recent events. Therefore, this thesis chose The Globe as a source for reflections on the statements that helped to consolidate the oblivion and denial of the dictatorial past. The History of the Present Time is used as a theoretical-methodological line to understand this period, opening new possibilities of interpretation for the fields of Human Sciences and Communication.
