Summary: The objective that guides this work is to analyze how Pseudo-Alberto Magno creates an authority for himself and his medical-philosophical treatise De secretis mulierum, and, with that, ensuring the legitimation of his speech and the adherence of readers. The work, which is attributed to Albert Magno, was composed around the end of the thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries. It belongs to the secreta mulierum genre, specific of thirteenth century Europe, the work addresses the theme of human reproduction, congregating natural philosophy and medicine. To achieve our goals, we tried to analyze the éthos of Pseudo-Alberto Magno, investigating, firstly, the reasons that led the author to present his text as an epistle, as well the reasons that led him to use scholastic methods in the text. Then, we tried to investigate with which discourses Pseudo-Alberto Magno dialogues, analyzing the reasons and the image that is created of the author by linking his discourse of his treatise to the discourse of natural philosophy, mostly. Moreover, we verified the authors position regarding socio-political questions, such as the representation of women in the text. For this analysis, we used the theoretical methodological assumptions from the Analysis of the Discourse, of the French line, specifically the concepts of éthos, field and discursive genre of Dominique Maingueneau, as well the concepts of representation of Roger Chartier, gender of Joan Scott and Male Domination of Pierre Bourdieu.
